Press Release: E/D/E recommends automatic inventory counting through TeDaLoS sensors

GERMANY, Wuppertal, March 2022: E/D/E is expanding its expertise in optimised supply of MRO assortments to industrial companies with sensor-based logistics data from the Austrian Internet-of-Things specialist TeDaLoS. Continuous automatic stock level recording makes materials management more efficient.

Einkaufsbüro Deutscher Eisenhändler GmbH (E/D/E) is the European service and system provider for the production fasteners trade and continues to expand its services as an organiser and operator of networks for market-relevant supply systems for craft and industrial needs. The approximately 1,200 affiliated members of E/D/E are for the most part specialist wholesalers who mainly supply commercial customers from the craft, industry and municipalities. They trade mainly in tools and machines, industrial supplies, fittings and construction elements, equipment for health and safety and technical trade, building services and steel.

TeDaLoS GmbH is a specialist for smart autonomous sensor solutions that are optimised for applications in material flow and inventory monitoring and can be provided as a one-stop solution from the sensor to the leading system. Well-known companies from the automotive industry and mechanical engineering to the food industry and wholesale trade use TeDaLoS systems internationally.

The core of supply networks/industrial service in E/D/E is the optimised supply of industrial companies with MRO ranges via our trading partners. This comprises so-called C-parts. These are materials with a low value share and a high quantity share. E/D/E Supply Networks/ Industrial Services now also offers members and their customers the TeDaLoS wireless retrofit solution.

Marlene Becker, in charge of Supplier Management, Sustainability Consultant, Supply Networks/Industrial Services at E/D/E, explains, “Alongside our automated dispensers and multi-bin Kanban systems, the TeDaLoS solution based on active sensor technology is the natural complement to continuously record material stocks, trigger daily inventory at the touch of a button and replenishment alarms in a straightforward manner.”

Numerous materials do not fit into stationary systems or multi-bin logic due to size, quantity/rotation or mobility. Some items simply cannot have a barcode or RFID label attached to the product or packaging. And in sensitive material groups, logging the piece-by-piece consumption curve is relevant,” Thomas Tritremmel, Managing Director of TeDaLoS, explains the typical applications.

The mobile wireless sensors are suitable for small load carriers, loose goods or goods in the manufacturer’s carton, as well as for pallets. Via the weight measurement, the current warehouse quantity is calculated in the online software and displayed graphically. Tare weights (tare weight of the load carrier or outer packaging) and packaging units are taken into account and evaluated in the GDPR-compliant cloud software for authorised users. In this self-service platform, users independently define assignments (sensor, customer, cost centre, material, reporting thresholds, etc.). Integrated reporting and alarm functions send inventory reports and replenishment requests by email. Data downloads and interfaces connect to other IT systems. The encrypted radio transmission from the sensor to the cloud is an integral part of the solution and is managed and monitored by TeDaLoS. With this retrofittable technology, there is no need to purchase new warehouse equipment or tie up IT resources. The daily inventory counting provides valuable insights into consumption peaks, saves storage space and working capital and brings a time advantage in procurement. For wholesalers, the anticipatory replenishment control enables improved customer service with higher material availability at lower logistics costs, as well as a reduction in Co² emissions due to saved freight.

Marlene Becker emphasises: “The technology, consisting of sensors, wireless communication and online software, can be set up quickly and without the need for IT specialists. Local integration or procurement of additional IT components is not necessary.
